August 27th, 2011Bombing along on Bimbo
August 4th, 2011This is a photo of Idos favourite, Leyton Williams, thoroughly enjoying life, bombing down the lane on his pony, Bimbo. This photo was taken about 20 years ago in New Zealand, but Leyton has the same smile!
When we talk about something going well, we will say “You are cooking on gas!”, or something similiar. I think the term “Bombing along on Bimbo” works too.

July 21st, 2011Dylan’s visit
July 21st, 2011
This is Dylan (the baby, not the big ugly one) who brought his family to stay with us recently. As we have staff who are CRB checked we were able to offer a babysitting service whilst Dylan allowed his parents to go out for a while. He smiled and chuckled all evening and seemed happy all evening. And he didn’t cry once!
Another reason to stay at Idos methinks!
Katrina’s Blog Entry
July 18th, 2011
Katrina and her family are the first people to stay in our Yurt for a lengthy holiday. She ran about the place with a huge smile on her face and always looked like she was thoroughly enjoying herself. So much so that we asked her to write a blog entry and supply photographs about her stay. There are more pictures of Katrina’s stay on our facebook page, and this is her story:-
“My dad, my brother Cameron and I stayed in the yurt for four nights. On Monday afternoon we arrived at the shop and went through to the garden. There we met lots of chickens, ducks, a sheep and a goat. The sheep is called Larry and the goat is called Harry. We went into the yurt and had a look around. We arranged the beds and furniture then went outside to have a look at the kitchen area. In the evening we ate fish and chips from a local shop then lit the campfire and toasted marshmallows in the dark.
The next morning I had a peek at Harry and Larry’s pen. They were both very friendly and Harry really enjoyed it when I scratched behind his ear.
On Wednesday afternoon it was nice and sunny so we had the yurt doors open and Harry came over and tried to come and join us inside! My brother Cameron used the outdoor kitchen to cook us a BBQ. When we went to sleep we lit the fire and warmed ourselves up. Wendy brought us some hot chocolate and it was very yummy!
On Thursday morning Wendy showed me the little baby ducklings and they were so cute and fluffy. I even saw one of the ducklings start to hatch. On Thursday evening I cooked chicken fried rice in the kitchen and it was delicious!
On the morning we left Dad woke me up and told me to look out the window. The mother duck was taking her babies round the garden. I helped Wendy to herd them into the rabbit run so that the cats wouldn’t get to them. I got to hold a few and they were really fluffy and cute. Staying in the yurt was so fun and exciting. It was a great experience and I definitely would want to do it again – especially if there were ducklings!”
Rest in Peace, Clarence Clemons
